"Bernard
of Hollywood Pin-Ups"
Evergreen, 1999
When it came to classic
pin-ups shots, Bruno Bernard was one of the best. Dubbed
the "King of Glamor" by pin-up artist Alberto Vargas,
Bernard
helped make the glamour era what it was. As a commercial photographer,
Bernard
shot anyone-who-was-anyone of the Hollywood elite. His real talent came
in the pin-up and glamour shots this book features.
Bernard
captured the playful, sultry, sophistication, and, of course, glamorous
aspect of each and every woman he photographed. He was one of the first
to photograph Marilyn Monroe back
when she was still Norma Jean. But his real muse, as the
book says, was the famed stripper Lili St.Cyr.
Cyr
always wanted provocative publicity photos, and with
Bernard's
camera they created some of the best glamour shots ever. This book is structured
as a how-to book, and while the technical information is useful, it is
the pictures that keep us coming back for more.
