Iris Bristol always seemed right at home with tiki statues,
tropical surroundings, and her trademark leopard print bikini. This stunning
brunette was the girl-next-door with that alluring hint of the South Pacific.
She was born in the very un-exotic locale of Birmingham, England, and by
the mid-1950's had made her way to California. She became a regular in
the pin-up world appearing in a few nudie-cutie shorts and many girlie
magazines working with the likes of legendary dirty-old-man
Russ
Meyer. She appeared on several magazine covers, almost all of them
with a tiki theme. If she wasn't wearing that leopard print bikini, she
was dressed up like a jungle maiden with flowers in her hair. (And for
one issue of
Adam a spear in her hands!) Bristol
was a bikini gal through-and-through. One magazine write-up mentioned that
she had a dozen polka dot bikinis. And, brother, did she have the figure
to really fill those bikinis. Her measurements were reported from between
37-21-35 to 38-23-36...all in a 5-foot 3-inch frame! But it is the jungle
girl look that we really remember her for. In the spirit of Irish
McCalla's Sheena, Queen of the Jungle, Bristol
was able to bring out that "Me Tarzan, You Jane" instinct in every red-blooded
American Bachelor. She projected such a great aura. Bristol
seemed civilized enough to take to the finest nightspot, but when she heard
the beats of the jungle drums, she would become an exotic savage. It was
the perfect combination of naughty and nice all wrapped up in a beautiful
leopard print bikini package.
