"Christmas Cocktails Part Two"
Various Artists, 1997
Looking
for some tunes to make your yule cool? Well, as you know, Capitol Record's
Ultra-Lounge series is the best in lounge music, so it isn't surprising
that Ultra-Lounge is the place to turn for those swinging tunes you need
for your hipster holiday--or maybe the perfect stuffer for those fishnet
stocking of choice--or maybe a present for the fat guy in the red zoot
suit. What ever the reason,
Christmas Cocktails has gather
up the standards and throw in enough spice to give then a kick (kinda like
that astro-powered eggnog you've got there). We all want holiday tunes
that remind us of those Christmas' long ago, but we also don't want to
hear the same old "Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" again. Some of these
tune have been lost (until now) in musty music vaults, but Capitol Records,
being the champs of lounge music they are, have rescued these audio treasures
for future generations of cool cats and kittens to enjoy. Christmas
Cocktails Part Two contains gems like the surf guitar powered Ventures
doing "Frosty The Snow Man," the king of exotica Martin
Denny doing a holiday mutation called "Exotic Night," Julie
London giving the sultry treatment to "Warm December," and the
Nat
King Cole Trio doing the otherwise annoying ditty "All I Want For
Christmas "Is My Two Front Teeth." You can find out more about the Ultra-Lounge
series at their website.
