"Incredibly
Strange Films"

This is one of the most-read
and dog-earred book in this Bachelor's library. The book Incredibly
Strange Films proves over and over again that some of the most
interesting films ever made were not made by Hollywood. The B-movie cinema
made films that more daring, ingenious, and, without a doubt, more fun
than any major studio could. A good portion of Incredibly Strange
Films is spent talking to the people who actually made and produced
these films like Russ Meyers ("Faster, Pussycat!
Kill! Kill!), Ted V. Mikels ("The Astro Zombies") and Herschell Gordon
Lewis ("She-Devils on Wheels" and "2000 Maniacs"). There are discussion
of the films that made them famous (or infamous as the case may be) and
a substantial filmography. Along with interviews are essays about the different
genres (LSD films, Women in Prison films, Beach Party film, Education films,
Industrial Jeopardy Films, and many others), essays on particular movies,
an A-Z of film personalities, and quotations from films (which is one of
the best sections to read). Even though many different writers contributed
to this book, they all shows an affinity toward these films and the people
who made them. As a rule of thumb, any book put out by RE/Search
is always worth picking up.
