Viva! Los Staitjackets
"Viva! Los Straitjackets"
Los Straitjackets, 1996

Los Straitjackets are, bar none, the four coolest guys you'll ever meet who wear Mexican wrestling masks for a living. They are also four of the best surf/fuzz/garage guitar players playing today (expect for living legends like Link Wray). Viva! Los Straitjackets is 14 tracks of amazing guitar instrumentals, among which you'll find the western twangy "Lonely Apache," the tropical island surf tune "Tsunami!," the swamp boogie "Swampfire," and the space-age bachelor track "Wrong Planet." They also have floating out there a amazing cover of the "Magnificent Seven" theme. Each track is like their own personal homage to all the great guitar slingers that came before them. But don't get them wrong, they are not a revival band, not a tribute band, and hardly a band that lives in the past. They are the one, the only Los Straitjackets! The live Los Straitjackets experience actually rivals their superb studio recordings. They play set after set of non-stop, furied guitar playing. When they banter to the crowd it's in their own broken Spanish, or Straitjacket-ease. So grab your wrestling mask and repeat after me: Viva! Viva! Los Straitjackets!
